CPR and AED with Medical Emergencies

This course is delivered in accordance with the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines for Medical Emergencies and Resuscitation in General Dental Practice. Every member of every Dental Practice is responsible for putting patients’ interests first. It’s important to recognise this responsibility, and to ensure that everyone is equipped with the skills required to deal with any medical emergency which may arise.

This training session covers Basic Life Support (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator training and the immediate management of other Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice, such as:

  1. Myocardial infarction (Heart attack)
  2. Angina
  3. Stroke
  4. Faint
  5. Seizures
  6. Anaphylaxis
  7. Diabetes
  8. Asthma
  9. Choking.           

Course objectives

  • To understand the various medical emergencies that might arise both in the dental chair and in dental practice.
  • To recognise the signs and symptoms of common medical emergencies.
  • To act proficiently and to work as a team in the crisis management of medical emergencies whatever your job role.
  • To know how to reduce the risk of a medical emergency occurring in known patients.
