Aim
Partake in various workshops to gain relevant skills, knowledge and experience for a career in the field of medicine.
Objectives
- Gain basic knowledge on human anatomy
- Outline patient consent, confidentiality and safety
- Understand the steps required in UCAS applications
- Demonstrate how to measure blood glucose, blood pressure, pulse oximetry and glasgow coma scale testing
- Be able to perform phlebotomy using a manikin arm
- Develop life saving skills, including CPR and the use of a defibrillator
- Use a laparoscopic simulator to develop basic surgical skills
Attendees will “graduate” from the Mini Medical School will receive a certificate of attendance.

At the end of the course delegates should be able to:
- Have an understanding of basic anatomy.
- Discuss patient consent, confidentiality and safety.
- Understand the entry process to Medical School
- Practically demonstrate blood glucose, blood pressure, pulse oximetry and glasgow coma scale testing.
- Discuss theoretical knowledge of the anatomy of the arm and how to take blood, and practically demonstration this through use of clinical skills manikin arm.
- Demonstrate CPR/AED.
- Understand a few basic surgical skills through the use of laparoscopic skills stations.
