Sports Specific First Aid Training

Be able to provide high quality basic first aid in sporting environments to a range of incidents. Taught using lectures, simulated exercises and written and practical assessments.

Suitable for: Anyone who would like to become a first responder, including Spectators, Players, Physiotherapists, Lifeguards and Referees.

Aim

Gain up to date knowledge as well as the practical first aid skills needed to deal with a wide range of sporting incidents.

Objectives

  • Discuss the role and responsibilities of the first aider
  • Outline the appropriate equipment for a sports first aider
  • Discuss adult basic life support, including the role of the defibrillator
  • Demonstrate how you would manage an unconscious, choking, heart attack and drowning casualties
  • Identify common sporting injuries, including head, facial, spinal and limb injuries
  • Outline the first aid response to common medical conditions in sport, including asthma, diabetes and allergies

This qualification is valid for 2 years, upon which delegates must revalidate with a full course.

At the end of the course delegates should be able to:

  • Discuss their role as a first aider
