Professor Aaron Peace, Consultant Cardiologist

Professor Peace subspecialises in Interventional Cardiology with particular interest in performing Complex stent implantation procedures. He is the Director of Research and Development at the Western Health and Social Care Trust and Visiting Professor to the Ulster University (UU) Personalised Medicine Centre in UU School of Medicine. After training in Queen’s University, Belfast, he worked in Royal Northshore Hospital, Sydney and then onto Dublin, where he completed his higher training in Cardiology.

Following subspecialty training in Interventional Cardiology in the world-renowned Cardiovascular Centre, OLV, Aalst, Belgium, he moved back to Northern Ireland to set up the Primary PCI services for Northern Ireland ensuring citizens had access to the gold standard management of major heart attacks 24/7. Alongside his colleagues in 2016, he extended this service to the people of Donegal forming a new unique Cross Border service that continues to run successfully.

Dr Jack Andrews, Consultant Cardiologist

Dr Andrews graduated from Dundee University Medical School with first-class honours in 2010, he completed his Cardiology Specialist Registrar training in Edinburgh from 2014 to 2022.   

Dr Andrews was awarded the prestigious British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Fellowship and subsequently completed his PhD with the University of Edinburgh. He has published over 30 peer reviewed articles and has presented his clinical work internationally.

During his cardiology training in Edinburgh, Dr Andrews completed his subspecialist training in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and a fellowship in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Insertion (TAVI). Following this, he completed a Fellowship in complex and Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) PCI at St. Georges University Hospital, London.

Dr Andrews was appointed as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Altnagelvin Area Hospital in October 2023. He is the Western Health Trust’s Cath Lab lead and has established a novel CTO PCI programme in the Northwest of Ireland, the first of its kind, to treat the most complex of Coronary cases.
