Suitable for: Anyone who needs to be aware of the assessment and treatment of adults at risk of harm within Healthcare, Dental, Charitable or Voluntary settings.

AIM

To provide an overview of how to develop the strategy, operations and oversight for an organisation in relation to adults at risk of harm.

OBJECTIVES

  • Outline the Adult Safeguarding Champion’s role in the safeguarding process
  • Confirm the process for referral
  • State the responsibilities in supporting staff in Adult safeguarding
  • Understand the process of investigation and referral to relevant agencies
  • Analyse and maintain records.

At the end of the course delegates should be able to:

  • Discuss the key principles of safeguarding vulnerable adults, in relation the safeguarding champion’s role.
  • Understand why safeguarding vulnerable adults is important.
  • Outline an awareness of the relevant legislation in relation to safeguarding vulnerable adults.
  • Outline the process of investigating and recording abuse and analysing and maintaining records.
